Before Dan Seals Went Solo, There was... Submitted on: 2009-09-16 |
|
| Oh my goodness, I have always liked duets of many types and this collection is no different. These are basically the A and B sides of England Dan & John Ford Coley's hit singles. The crossover soft rock / country duo of the 70's, was the beginning of what became Dan Seals great solo country career. Dan saddly passed on March 2009, but this music will live on. Remember "Love IS the Answer"... Stay 2nd :-) |

Amazon, Fix Your Sampler! Submitted on: 2009-07-16 |
|
| Great music by a great band! But if Amazon wants to reap more sales from it, they need to fix the severely screwed-up sampler selections on this album! 'Nights Are Forever' features (just barely if you strain to hear it) the last, fading-out line of the song, THEN the between-the-tracks silence, then the beginning of the next song! It continues being one song off until 4-5 songs later, when it totally LEAVES OUT the sample for 'We'll Never Have To Say Goodbye Again', then corrects itself for the next song. So two of the major hits just aren't there. GET IT TOGETHER, AMAZON! |

A Voice Silenced, But Both a Country and Pop Sensation Submitted on: 2009-03-26 |

Likely the best compilation of England Dan & John Ford Coley - Born in McCamey, Texas, Dan Seals was the brother of Jim Seals, of the hit pop duo Seals and Crofts. The younger Seals soon followed in his brother's footsteps, forming a singing partnership with John Ford Coley. The duo scored a number of hit singles on the pop chart throughout the '70s as England Dan and John Ford Coley, including the No. 2 hit, 'I'd Really Love to See You Tonight,' and a Top 10 cover of Todd Rundgren's 'Love Is the Answer.'
Sadly, Dan Seals, who enjoyed successful careers in both pop and country music for more than three decades, died March 25th, 2009 from complications with mantle cell Lymphoma. He was 61 years old.
John Ford Coley continues to record and posted this message on his website - On March 25, 2009, my former partner and friend of many years, England Dan Seals, passed away after a long two-year struggle with lymphoma. I have so many tremendous memories of my years with Dan, the tours, the records, the fun times, the difficult times and the many blessings of time spent together. We got to tour the world together when we weren't for sure if we'd ever make it out of our native Texas.
For those of you that never got to know Dan, he was a truly gifted musician, singer, saxophone and guitar player. He had an extremely quick wit and he kept me laughing much of the time.
We first met at W.W. Samuell High School in Dallas, Texas when I was 16 and he was 17. We began playing in a local band together in the late 1960's. I thought I'd share some old photos that I'm sure very few people have seen. Losing Dan is a great loss for all of us. He was an inspiration for me and so many others. We'll miss you. - John Ford Coley
This is perhaps the best album of their collaboration together of the 1970s and SHOULD NOT BE MISSED!
