One of the most innovative albums of the decade BY FAR Submitted on: 2009-09-04 |

Weather you like her not, now formaly known as Santigold has given us a HUGE Fresh of air for us to sweetly inhale through our ears.
I can't believe that this is a debut album!
it's one of the greatest albums ever made. I'm a fan of Micahel Jackson, Stevie Nicks, Madonna. The Legends. But this girl has created one of the most addicting albums to listen to. The lyrics are over the top smart and witty. She has without a doubt added herself to the list of My ALL-TIME favorite artists.
All of the songs are phenomenal!! but the 5 that i'm really excited about are-
My Top 5
1. Shove It
2. Creator
3. I'm A Lady
4. You'll Find A Way
5. My Superman
I LOVE YOU SANTIGOLD!! There better be another album in the works, because there's no reason for me to live otherwise (lol)
BUY THIS ALBUM!!
You won't regret it |

Purely Phenomenal... Submitted on: 2009-06-24 |

| I had heard "L.E.S. Artistes" last year some time, and then heard the full album and fell in love with it. I played the entire album through, and there are very few albums I am able to do that with! Santogold (Santigold) is purely phenomenal and original in her delivery. Though she may have some similarities to M.I.A (when you work together w/another artist, who doesn't?!) she is entirely her own. I recently saw her perform live, and she totally blew me away! She sounds EXACTLY like her CD (which VERY few do), and closed with my favorite song "Starstruck"... A very grimey but amazingly addicting piece on this album. I highly encourage you don't sleep on her! Trouble Andrew (lead singer, Andrew, appears on her track "I'm a Lady") opened for her and are pretty decent as well. Both of their sounds are for eclectic ears... hope you enjoy! |

Interesting... Submitted on: 2009-06-24 |

| That photo is different, very interesting!."Santogold" if you notice is the album title, "Santigold" is the artist. I just had to clarify that, I thought she was spelling her name two ways for no reason. Nevertheless "Santogold" (Which is the album) has two sides to it, some of the music has a Pop/rock sound while some of the others have a Hip-Hop Vibe (The Music), Santigold herself does not like her music to be refered to as Hip-Hop, She feels alot of the critics have claimed her as Hip-Hop because she's Black, In my opinion some of the songs have a DEFINATE Hip-Hop Vibe. "Starstruck" which is my favorite track on the album has an electronic feel clashed with a Hip-Hop beat I don't know what else to call it, But that's how I hear it, Her singing along with the lyrics don't come off as Hip-Hop at all. Another favorite of mine is "Shove It" it has a reggae flavour to it, It's nice to sway to. "Lights Out" I believe is the most basic Pop/Rock song on the album, which is also a favorite of mine. Both "You'll Find A Way" & "Say Aha" have a Psychobilly rhythm to them, A No Doubt flavor. Overall it's an interesting album, I've read alot of articles about "Santi" (Her k.a) being compared to M.I.A., I prefer Santi, I couldn't get into M.I.A.. The only thing I can see is that because they're experimental they're compared to one another, other than that they're completely different artists. Overall even though this album is inspired by alot of different sounds it's not too dramatic. If you're a music maniac and love to surf different styles of music, or maybe you're looking for something new to get into or add to your iPOD I would say give "Santogold" (The album) A Try, can't be too bad. |

Meh, Avril Lavigne for hipsters Submitted on: 2009-06-10 |

| Sounding like Gwen Stefani without the power and Pink without the soul, and with her voice processed to within an inch of it's life, nothing on Santigold's album is either compelling or new. Just the same old mish-mash of pop styles from generic electronica to pop-ska without much in the way of innovation and nothing in the way of emotion. Though perhaps the mish-mash covers a greater number of pop styles than is usual, I've heard it all before and I'd bet you've heard it all before too. After listening to this cd twice I keep coming to the conclusion that Santigold is Avril Lavigne for hipsters. File under "Meh" |
