IF YOU DON'T OWN THIS ALBUM...>YOU DON'T KNOW HIP HOP! Submitted on: 2009-07-16 |

| This album is by far the best hip hop album ever produced. If you don't own it, you really don't know real hip hop. Large Prof. is a genius because all these tracks are bangin'. The lyrics are on-point and new players in the game need to take note of this album if they think they can be in the game. Too often I hear contemporary hip-hop sounding like total crap,,,why...because it is! Where are the lyricists today? A&R folks at major labels need to shoot themselves because they are producing junk. Back in the day people had talent. Take note of Main Source if you think you know anything about hip-hop. Take it from an old-school G, this is classic. You better recognize! Peace, unity, love and havin' fun. BA |

Classic!!! Submitted on: 2008-10-09 |

Few albums merit the title classic but "Breaking Atoms" does. From start to finish it is simply outstanding. There will probably never be another hip hop album like it. It truly stands in a class by itself. I bought the cassette single for "Looking At The Front Door" back in 1991. You can't even buy tapes anymore. Man, I'm getting old. Anyway shortly after that Main Source released one more album without Large Professor which didn't do too well. Without Extra P, it just wasn't the same. Shortly after that Wild Pitch Records folded and Main Source was hip hop history. Now this classic album has re-surfaced and it's back in print as it should be. I have the japanese version which has 9 bonus tracks. They are:
1. Just A Friendly Game of Baseball (Remix)
2. Fakin The Funk
3. Peace Is Not The Word To Play (Remix)
4. Just Hangin Out (Remix)
5. Bonafied Funk (with The Brand New Heavies)
6. Atom
7. Think
8. How My Man Went Down In The Game
9. Peace Is Not The Word To Play (12" Version)
All 9 bonus tracks are just as good as the main album tracks. The Remixes add a different touch to the already classic versions you already know. From what I understand, Fakin The Funk, Think, Atom and How My Man Went Down In The Game were supposed to be on the next Main Source album with Large Professor which we all know never happened. We still got some classic material and these tracks should have been included on the American reissue. After all, it's 17 years later. All true hip hop fans should have this album in their collection. Get It. Peace! |

Should be in every one's top ten Submitted on: 2008-02-15 |

| There are so many reasons why I liked this but the main reason is the Large Professor who is in my top 10 rappers. I do own this on vinyl also and cd. The cover is what got me also as its one thats really differant. The Large Pro is still doing his thing and has instrumental albums out which you should get. He is still one of the best producers around. This is one album where I dont think there is a song on it I dont like. You do have to get a hold of the 12 inch remixs also to the songs esp Peace is not the word. |
