Mostly good, some repetitive. Worth buying Submitted on: 2009-09-12 |

| It's tough to find new, unique trance material because so many people just grab some samples and turn on the computer. At least the djs on this cd find some good, unique tracks that grab your attention in a good way. |

This CD is astonishingly good. I've made tons of purchases from amazon, from markus schulz to armin van buuren and above & beyond. But this compilation stands out. Heck, any compilation by christopher lawrence is fantastic.
This compilation is the reason why i buy trance music & am so much in awe of it. It is essentially a journey into sounds, weird, distorted, electronic, minimally vocalized, hard, pure & fun. And when John OO & Christopher lawrence combine forces, you better listen.
I also own the gatecrasher live mix, and it gives me goosebumps at the thought of how amazing the stuff would play on huge stadium speakers in an open arena. Watching CL Live would be living the dream.
Two Tribes basically sets the tone with the OO Flemming set, progressing smoothly, unleashing itself with insipit by paulina crawe. From then on, John Flemming's set is very trancey, but lacks the punch towards the end, when it vaguely disfigures itself in the genre. Super beginning, great build ups, but a mediocre closing.
Christopher Lawrence set picks up from Zen mechanics ground control & off the grid, really blasts off on Icontrol by Crying freeman, & by the middle of who are you? by magnetia, things start getting really DIRTY!
Christopher lawrence's style is relentless! You have to own this compilation to appreciate and admire the layers of complexity involved in this genre of music. It might strike similar notes repeatedly, but somewhere within lurks genius. Great work by the artists on the compilation, & even better work by the two legends who've worked on them to churn out this wonderful album. Sounds are fresh, progressive & propulsive with great energy & uber-cool build-ups throughout.
Must buy for fans of progressive trance |

Excellent Trance Submitted on: 2008-11-29 |

| If you like trance Christopher Lawrence is one of the best and 00 has great stuff, too. I love to use this to run or bike to (lifecycle). I used to dance to it, but have slowed down on the night life. |

Gatecrasher Moscow and Unfold 2 are better Submitted on: 2008-10-24 |

| First of all, 00 Fleming should stick to his own albums because Christopher Lawrence just puts him to shame. As for CD 2, it's good but not CL's best and definitely not better than Gatecrasher Live in Moscow OR Unfold 2. Highlights are tracks 3-10 (the psytrance of course). 8 and 10 are outstanding. The rest of the CD is too light and I really wish CL would drop the pure progressive stuff because it sounds old and the transition to psy is very awkward. Otherwise I definitely recommend this album, it's a billion times better than any mainstream trance out there now. |
