| I have been listening to TC for about 20 years now and she still has something to say. |

One of Two of MY Favorites Submitted on: 2009-07-17 |

I was excited when I just recently discovered that Tracy released a new CD late in 2008. This album quickly became a favorite of mine, joining the ranks of her first album (although there isn't much likeness between the two albums). I find that a lot of Tracy Chapman albums require a couple of listenings to fully appreciate the music and become familiar with the lyrics, however, on "Our Bright Future" the songs stuck with me after the first listen.
My favorite songs from "Our Bright Future":
"Sing For You"
"Save us All"
"I Did it all"
"Our Bright Future"
Thanks for the great album Tracy! |

If you enjoyed her first then this is for you. I had heard this
album on a trans-Atlantic flight
and getting to hear the entire album sold me.
You wont regret getting this great music set! |

Strong and Dependable Submitted on: 2009-05-22 |

Tracy Chapman has yet to deliver a bad album although some have been disappointing. Happily that's not the case with Our Bright Future. It starts with the infectious 'Sing For You' and from there only gets better with the exception of, in this reviewers opinion, 'Saves us All' (never have been comfortable with preachy songs and in this one Chapman declares her faith in Jesus and states 'don't know about you').
That aside it does take a few listens to really appreciate this album as it treads much of the same ground as all her albums. Chapman's warm vocals and the counting in on a few tracks make for a very intimate listening experience indeed.
'A Theory' and 'Conditional' appear in the latter half of the CD and are probably the best two tracks but not by much as 'First Person on Earth' comes mighty close. The feeling throughout is of an artist who knows where she came from and knows where she's going, comfortable in her own skin and enjoying making her music her way.
All-in-all a great addition to the Chapman catalogue and one which will be revisited in the more reflective moments.

Disappointing Submitted on: 2009-05-07 |
|
| Have been waiting for a "new" Tracy Chapman CD for many years...I'm still waiting! This one is such a repeat of what she's done before, some melodies are almost exactly the same as her first release -- just with somewhat different words. Very disappointing, wasted money. |
