Killer! Submitted on: 2009-11-22 |

| The Killers are, in a word, brilliant! Its guitar-driven pop infused with keyboards...ever so British-esque. And "Day & Age," the band's third studio album, is a delight to behold. God bless Brandon Flowers and Co. Need I say more? |

When I found out the Killers were going to be on Saturday Night Live for the third time, I looked at them and then I decided that drummer Ronnie Vannucci, Jr. must be going through some kind of identity crisis because he has looked completely different every time (although he HAS shaved off the Jason Lee moustache -- actually, NOW he cut his hair but he's growing the moustache back). Anyway, the critic's favorite new wave revivalists came back a few years ago with Sawdust, a collection of b-sides and previously unreleased tracks. I didn't hear that one, but I did get my hands on the band's next proper studio album, Day & Age.
This Stuart Price-produced album doesn't have a lot of songs on it but there are still a lot of great tracks. Highlights include "I Can't Stay", "Neon Tiger" (the song that inspired the album's title) and "Losing Touch". But my favorite song is definitely the first single, "Human" -- and for those that still don't know, Brandon said "are we dancer", not "dancers". Sure, it isn't grammatically correct, but why is that so big an issue in a world where the word "ain't" is a standard in pop music?
That actually leads me to another point. Although the Killers' lyrics have never really made a WHOLE lot of sense, I actually think they excel more when they DON'T try to tell stories -- case in point, I just couldn't get into "Spaceman". Oh, well; Day & Age is much better than Sam's Town and not QUITE as good as Hot Fuss, but it's still a great album. Pick it up if you haven't already.

Maybe Just For Big Fans Submitted on: 2009-10-29 |

I REALLY enjoy this album, it is on my blackberry and take it everywhere. The best song is Dustland Fairytale. The emotion of the song comes out full force after you have seen the video. Granted the acting is a bit, well "music video" acting, but the story is powerful. To have those images run through your mind as this non traditional rock ballad roars is an experience. Human Dancer was the first track released in the states and is a fine song, along with spaceman. Those three tracks caught my ear immediately, the rest of the album is average at best, but since I am a fan of the Killers, I enjoy it more than I probably should.

The Best Album of 2008 Submitted on: 2009-10-20 |

I bought Day & Age when it first came out last year. With this album, The Killers have really taken it to the next level. They are excellent as song writers and as musicians. Day & Age is an incredible album! It takes the band in a new direction while still maintaining elements from Hot Fuss and Sam's Town. It's amazing to see how they have come as a band in only 5 years.
