HANK LOCKLIN'S EARLY RECORDINGS Submitted on: 2009-05-31 |
| The three cd Box set came to me in good condition and well on time .Thanks to Amazon.com for that piece of slick marketing. But the CD itself was nothing much from my point of view.It had been made in Portugal, and was of mediocre quality, and the songs themselves were from Locklin's early years, and lacked the punch of his latter day recordings.Hardly any bass on it to speak of,and generally tinny to the ear.But I like it because it is very vintage Locklin and therefore very rare.Anyway thanks for sending me the item promptly, that was great. |

Early Hank Locklin 1948-1955 Submitted on: 2001-03-01 |
| Hank Locklin had been recording for a decade before he broke through with hits like GEISHA GIRL and PLEASE HELP ME I'M FALLING.His early records made between 1948 and 1955 for Gold Star, Royalty, 4-Star, and are the rarest of all, and are reissued complete here. Among the Texas dance hall classics are LET ME BE THE ONE (a #1 country hit in 1953), The Same Sweet Girl, and the original recording of SEND ME THE PILLOW YOU DREAM ON. Many of these have never been reissued at all, and many others have only been reissued with altered sound and overdubs. Here, the sound of the original 78's has been carefully restored. This set contains 66 songs on 3 CDs, as well as a 32 pagebook by Kevin Coffey with a new discography and many rare photos. |
