Very nice CD. Submitted on: 2009-11-09 |

| Bought this CD and was quite pleased with it. Some really nice remixes of some of Kylie's best tracks. It's a great mix of Pop, Electronica and House. Great CD for a party where people are lounging around. |

Remixing done right Submitted on: 2009-08-21 |

I'm not a big fan of remixes in general. Mostly because most of them are so mediocre ... with generic dance beats, cheesy sound affects, and phrases from the song repeated over and over until it becomes ingratiating. However, when a remix is done right, what can happen is that a good song can be taken in a completely new and exciting direction. That's what some of the top notch talent present on "Boombox" does.
A few of the remixes on "Boombox" are amazing. The Chemical Brother's mix of "Slow" is one of the best remixes I've ever heard. It takes the slinky original song and turns it into an all-out, trippy sonic orgasm. Another standout is Fischerspooner's epic, euphoric mix of "Come Into My World." Other highlights are the previously unreleased "Boombox", and the Death Metal Disco Scene Mix of "Wow".

The Remixes Submitted on: 2009-07-23 |

| This remix album which spans Kylie's 3rd decade in the music and contains some of her best work was actually good. I especially like Your Disco Needs You, Giving You Up, Can't Get YOu Out Head My Head, and Boombox, and this album makes a wonderful additional to any remix collection. |

Not one to dwell on what many others have already have mentioned, this is one of those dance albums one must own if anyone appreciates not just Kylie, but loves female dance artists in general.
Kylie is more than just a singer of dance music, but is an artist.
This showcase is basically a slew of remixes, but what a collection!
As a former dj, I was 'remix' crazy. What can 'I' do to make such an ordinary song sound, well, different.
These tracks are a welcome addition.

Don't listen to the critics! Submitted on: 2009-03-09 |

I really don't understand why critics are too negative over Kylie's albums, especially since her latest studio album "X". Okay, we all know that This is not Mozart, or something - but who cares? Kylie has always been one of the greatest female popstars, who has been shining with her outstanding live performance and hit singles for years. And this is a collection of the best remixes of her Parlophone years. Therefore, I criticize the critics who claims that Kylie's albums do not sound well since her latest album "X". This is not a studio album - it just gathers what we have been hearing in the clubs since 2000.
As a Kylie fan who mostly dislikes the remixes of her songs (although I love remixes in general), I can say that the best remixes are chosen and their radio edits were included in "Boombox" - which makes it more listenable as you don't get bored with full-length remixed tracks, and it makes the album sounds more like a "studio" album than a remix compilation.
The classic mash-up "Can't Get Blue Monday", Mylo's well put "I Believe In You" and amazing Whitey remix of "Red Blooded Woman" are the most outstanding tracks on the album. The remixes of "Giving You Up" and "Slow" are tasty as well besides the "Light Years" stuff including "Spinning Around" and "On A Night Like This" which made me recall the "good old days".
There are probably two tracks where you feel sick in the album - the remix of "In Your Eyes" is the worst I have ever listened- and I really don't understand why this is chosen while there was such a great remix of Roger Sanchez out there. "The One"'s remix is almost sounding like its original - which is not a bad thing for your ears, but it's an unoriginal remix.
The only new track "Boombox" is also fun to listen to - and I am sure the fans who saw Kylie live at her XTOUR2008, will enjoy more from this track. I can suggest this album to any Kylie fan, and anyone who is eager to buy a high-class pop album to dance. This is what Kylie does best, and she does not disappoint even in a remix compilation. |
