Complete overrated Submitted on: 2009-11-17 |

| Spacey, Repetitive, and non melodic i just can't imagine why NPR gave this a top 50 album. There's nothing great on any level and i'm a huge fan off weird off the wall indie type bands but this is just not good. |

Best Animal Collective album Submitted on: 2009-11-09 |

| I've been into Animal Collective since 2005, when they released Feels. This is their best album. Why? Because it just is. It's really good. You should download somewhere LOL |

Friendly Animal Collective Submitted on: 2009-11-03 |

| I've been a fan of AC for a while and I'm excited to have a good starting point to hand to people who want to get into them but can't wrap their heads around some of their more abstract music. It's still got the wall of sound happening, but there are more refrains and such throughout to make it a little easier to walk into if you aren't already a fan of the moer left of center stuff. Bluish is easily my fav track on here, but there isn't a single track that I skip over when I listen to it. The whole album is just cohesive and absolutely delish. |

let's not get crazy here... Submitted on: 2009-10-09 |

first things last: i took a chance on this album. i'm usually more into guitar driven rock,
like old Cheap Trick and Aerosmith. but i read some startling reviews of this record, with
comparisons to Pet Sounds and wilco - so i figured i'd give it a shot. while there are some
good tunes ("Also Frightened" and "Bluish" stand out), this is not a five-star brilliant record.
a little too self congratulatory for me. sorry... |

A Joyous Affirmation of Mature Happiness Submitted on: 2009-10-03 |

I must only append a few details to the volume that has been spoken already for this album--I hope that they may serve as neat little insights for listener to the album.
One of the things that makes this album so wonderful is the almost-unreal organ-synthy sounds that bracket its beginning and end (think the great part in In the Flowers, and a similar thing that comes in at the interlude of Brothersport), with a sound almost like heavenly chorus of icicles and grasshoppers (if you really listen to it, you'll know what I mean).
The other thing I truly love about this album: it feels, simply, like an affirmation of what's truly good in the world. It's beautiful. |
