| As a major smooth jazz and especially a Chieli Minucci/Special EFX fan, I bought this CD on faith, which usually goes against my better judgement. That purchase was a reminder that it is important to listen to samples first--no matter who the artist is. I don't get it at all. I'm wondering what this has to do with smooth jazz; to my ears every single song sounds like someone bought a new processor and wanted to play with it to see that kind of cool sounds it would do. I could not listen to one single song all the way through. This CD belongs in the New Age Music category. As I turned it off, feeling ripped off, I thought that maybe I should give it to my massage therapist; the sounds would be perfect for that environment. I can only hope that Chieli and band will come back to us, hopefully sooner rather than later, laying down those tight grooves with medodies and chord progressions that truly hook us and make our souls soar into the heavenlies of smooth jazz at its best while driving down the road. |
