Customer Reviews of This Album/CD

One of 2009's Best
Submitted on: 2009-08-27
This is probably the most solidly produced, well-written debut album I have ever heard. A lot of metalheads may turn away from it since the band is on Victory, but this band shows that even a 'core' band can compete with the best. It's part metalcore, part melodic death and part math metal. The fusion of genres works brilliantly and I've listened to this record constantly since its release. Extremely impressive for a band of under 25s.

If you are a fan of Between the Buried and Me or Protest the Hero this album is a must.
squeaky clean!

this is absolutely the cleanest sounding metal cd I've ever encountered. sure it has been edited heavily to get it that clean and it can sound a tad awkward because of it. but that can be easily overlooked because the talent on this album is incredible. these guys have the august burns red style shredding, and the acacia strain style breakdowns. it is agressive, loud, and very very good.
wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow!

This band is amazing! The singer and bassist are not necessary, the guitarists and drummer by themselves could probably take over the world with the incredible sound and style and spot on time changes, these guys were made for each other each riff is just as exciting and better then the last and extremely creative you'll want to listen over and over again!
Audio destruction

I freakin love this CD Folks. You'll be listening to this and be completley blown away that the guitarists and drummer can remember what part there playing. The second song "Arsenal" Has like 70 guitar riffs in it, and amazingly they all work together pretty seemlessly. Its brutal but its not overdone. The guitar work is mind blowing and the drumming could power several giant robots that want to destroy Minneapolis. Do yourself a favor and give it a listen.
Excellent style done gracefully

The title of my review might make them sound like a cookie cutter pop act. This band is far from it.

First off, the whole group is fairly young. This seems to be a trend, of youngsters out doing their senior acts. They use the off beat, chugging melodic assault that Born Of Osiris has instilled in the Tech genre, while maintaining unique and invigorating identity all their own.

All tracks felt like they had unique identity and purpose. Which is nice when the album only clocks in a little over the 30 min mark. Every track because a precious piece at that point. Which WTR make good use of the time.

The playing style is tight and concise without loosing any of the feeling that real people are playing the music. It's refreshing to know not every band is aiming for popularity through following the beaten path. WTR choose to make an album that was theirs, and now share it with the world. It's brilliant in it's technicality without becoming self indulged. Melodic without loosing it's raw edge.

If you haven't heard the band they are similar to August Burns Red, Born Of Osiris or The Faceless.
