moving forward, but not in the direction most fans would want Submitted on: 2009-11-19 |

| It's Blitz is a good album. It's best described as a logical progression from 'show your bones'... with the obvious added influence of ecstasy tablets. and plenty of em. There are few tracks here for those of you longing for the days of 'fever' but if you really need more of that try their 'Is Is' cd released not long before this. it features a few tracks recorded in that era that if included here would have really just made the album a mess. It's Blitz includes the staple rockers, catchy radio friendly hits, and the vulnerable girl stuff (runaway) that personally i always thought sucked. highlights include 'zero', 'dragon queen' and 'dull life'. the more mainstream direction the band is taking may be off putting to older fans, but if a real artist wants to survive the only way is forward so lets be glad they've enough credibility to do their own thing rather than release the same album over and over. |

A great album throughout Submitted on: 2009-11-17 |

| There were only a few tracks on Fever to Tell that I'd ever listen to. So I was a little hesitant to buy It's Blitz. But I'm glad that I did. It's a solid album, and plays well all the way through. |

Karen's O spot Submitted on: 2009-10-23 |

Great decision to switch from tired guitar progressions to ancient keyboard parodies for Karen O and company.
Please, let's face it. This band is Karen. Her little clinically perfect side musicians only contribute to well, Karen.
Karen, her voice, her persona, her outfits, her lyrics. And then she bosses her two New York minutes around like they are Mexie musical landscapers.
But it's all good. Outside of the moments she leaves to her band mates where they play around with noises circa Star Castle and Yes, her voice is wonderfully powerful and muscular.
She will leave them soon. I would like to see her hook up with Frank Black or someone like that. Truly talented musicians who will punctuate her vocal instrument to a transcendent level.
It will happen. |
