Force to be reckoned with
Submitted on: 2009-11-10
When I first heard Peaches a decade or so ago, I took her for an entertaining novelty act. But over the course of four albums, she's proven herself to be an artistic, musical and political force to be reckoned with.

Although she continues to use brash sexuality as a tool for sociopolitical revolution, and also continues to use her female-Canadian-school-teacher voice to turn the tables on the normally black and male rap game, on "I Feel Cream" Peaches has also branched out quite a bit from her original schtick. "Talk To Me" shows that Peaches is actually a totally competent rock singer and songwriter, "Lose You" is a slice of fairly straightforward disco heaven, "Mud" is a poetic piece of alt-rock, and "Show Stopper" recalls the industrial sleaze of 'My Life With the Thrill Kill Cult'.

Overall, Peaches is a unique, intriguing performer continuing to expand her bag of tricks. I can't wait to see what else she's got up her sleeve.
Peaches Rocks!!!!

Well, I had never heard of Peaches before stumbling across her in Amazon.com, so I took a chance and downloaded this album. Wow! I wasn't sure if I'd like the in-your-face sexuality so much, I mean, I'm no prude, but she's a little over the top. But it's awesome! The music is really fun, danceable, and sounds just plain good. I love her voice, whether she's rapping or singing. All the tracks are good IMHO.

I got into the Peaches game late but at this point I will buy anything new she puts out. This cd is less raunchy than her previous work. Gone are the lines "slappin' those D***cks all over the place." Now we have a sentimental Peaches talkin' about "I don't wannna lose u". I read another reviewer dissing that song and ironically that's m' fave track on the cd. "Lose You" sounds like mystical early 80's grooves with a mysterious dark 80's new wave vibe. It conjurs up images of some tragic Dale Bozzio looking chick holed up in her dark bedroom with neon lights on the bedstand tripping over some guy who broke her heart. I love the energy this song creates. Most of the other songs are dance oriented with the infamous Peaches lyrics sung over top that only she can do. "2 much salt in your diet", who would write something like that in a song? Peaches. There's some other good lines in "Mud" and a host of others. "I Feel cream" is a good dance jam, maybe some good remixes will follow. "Talk 2 Me" is the only rock sounding track, reminds me a lil of Stevie Nicks. Billionaire sounds like a Gwen Stefani type jam but Gwen Stefani don't cuss like Peaches do. Peaches is one of a kind and as long as she sticks to just being Peaches, that is all she has to do. Whenever I play one of her cds, u r automatically transported into Peaches world and u just sit back enjoy the ride and trip out let Peaches teach ya how 2 b a pervert baby.
BRILLIANT

This album is phenomenal. Peaches has moved into a more electro/house genre, but the sound is incredible. I recently saw her in concert and her performance was amazing. If you like good house beats that are raw and loud, heavy bass and high treble; an all-round good dance party--throw on this album: it's guaranteed to get the party jumpin'.
Musically, Peaches' best album so far

I just got a copy of this album and I'm listening to it as I review it. I just listened to "More" on the headphones, which seems, to me, to be the sort of thing Peaches always promised to do, but never had enough technology to deliver (I love all her low-tech stuff!). The production standards are much higher than on her previous albums and by this, I mean that she uses more sounds and treats the sounds more care. Her rapping, as on "Billionaire", are less interesting to me, but she introduces enough interesting musical material to keep me listening, however ....

I've spent so much time listening to the operas of Rameau and Lully recently, Peaches makes a nice contrast. I enjoy her very "in your face" approach to Pop music and lyrics. Long may she reign! I only hope she does a cover of John Foxx's "Burning Car" one day! That would be awesome, especially if she gets John to do the music!
