I really do like the whole new PSB CD. In particular, this one highlights one of my favorite songs on the disc. I would really like to hear an acoustic (guitar only) version of this song.. I think that it would be amazing. The added songs are a bonus.
Great Release by my Favorite Duo

While another review said this single was their worst ever, I think it's one of their best. I love the remix of DYSMC - almost as much as I love the original. I think it's a perfect choice for a single. It's upbeat, great vocals and great music - all around a 10. I really don't get why so many people are so against this as a single! I also thought The Former Enfant Terrible was a brilliant track. My favorite from the 2-cd release is After the Event, but TFET comes in second. The music is amazing, and so much so that I don't mind the odd lyrics and spoken bits. Check out the Bring-it-On mix available on download. It takes the original and extends on the same principle.
I didn't see this one coming

I was disappointed to hear that the second single from Pet Shop Boy's superb new CD "Yes" would be the rather tepid "Did You See Me Coming?" The song sounds fine in the context of the entire CD, but there are so many other selections that would be more exciting singles, such as "King of Rome" or fan favorite "The Way It Used to Be." "Did You See Me Coming" is very pop-ish and would sound at home on their earlier classic "Very;" the song reminds me a bit of "I Wouldn't Normally Do This King of Thing" and "Yesterday When I Wad Mad" from that CD, although it sounds more sedate and boring than either of those songs

As usual, the boys are releasing the single in two different parts - this CD features a remix of DYSMC (PSB Possibly More Remix) and two new songs "The Former Infant Terrible" and "Up and Down." The remix of DYSMC has some new and interesting elements that do improve the song. My favorite part is when Neil intones "women seeking men, men seeking women, women seeking women, men seeking men" over and over again. After awhile it starts to sound like an ad for craigslist, but it does at least spice up this otherwise somewhat boring song.

I typically love PSB b-sides as they tend to be more experimental or unusual sounding. However, "The Former Infant Terrible" is one of my least favorite PSB songs ever - a real schizophrenic mess reminiscent of "The Sound of the Atom Splitting," which is cited by many fans as their worst song. I think this one is even worse. On the positive side, the backing music is very current sounding and different for PSB. Unfortunately, Neil's vocals are exceedingly odd - he sounds like he's sneering most of the time whilst singing, especially when he says "Give me a bandwagon and I'll jump on it." Worse of all, the song has no melody and didn't stick in my mind even after several listens, which is unusual for a PSB song. In fact, "The Former Infant Terrible" is just annoying. "Up and Down" is quite a bit better. Neil's vocals on this selection are also quite different but work for the song. The lyrics are simplistic but the chorus ("I go up, I go down, I go crazy when you're not around") is rather catchy and even beautiful sounding. It's by far my favorite of the three songs on this CD and bumps the rating from 2- to 3-stars.

I buy every version of every PSB CD and single they release, and 95% of the time I'm extremely pleased. I can't say that this time. The combination of a weak single and one terrible b-side makes this perhaps the worst PSB CD ever released, and one I'm unlikely to listen to in the future.
"Possibly More?" Definitely More - and Possibly Their Best Remix Yet!

I was lucky enough to obtain an advance promo CD of the "Did You See Me Coming" remixes, and while I haven't heard the other two tracks, the "PSB Possibly More Mix" of DYSMC included here is a masterpiece. It is a perfect example of how a remix can turn an already giddy pop song into a real opus, complete with a counter-melody, original lyrics and editorializing by Neil and Chris, all while preserving the feel of the original and leaving you no choice but to run screaming to the dancefloor.

While the Pet Shop Boys have had some incredible remixes by others (Moby's "Miserablism," Sasha's "West End Girls" and the Voxigen remix of "IWNDTKOT" for instance), it is becoming clear that their own remixing skills are among the best: Madonna's "Sorry," The Killers "Read My Mind" and others all add their magic to the songs while preserving (and amplifying) the sentiment of the originals.

This remix clearly brings out the tongue-in-cheek sexuality of the title and reworks the song into a sort of personals ad. As the typically propulsive PSB beat builds, a loop of "come" plays underneath until Neil intones in his classic detached speaking style "Men seeking women, women seeking men, women seeking women, men seeking men...for friendship..." and in pops Chris to finish the sentence: "...and possibly more." A bold overlay, deadpan funny, classic PSB, and genius! Things just keep getting better - next up is a counter-melody that you will be singing to yourself for days after you hear it: Neil's winsome voice and a classic PSB minor chord as he laments(!) "Every night is Friday night - welcome to my life." An amazing synth line slowly takes you back to the original beat and feel and then you get Neil again, this time reciting an entire personals ad - the rhyming and deadpan humor of this segment alone is worth the price of admission!

Needless to say, it is over 2 minutes into the remix when they give you the first strains of the song's chorus, and like the best remixes, when it hits, the goosebumps do too. The "possibly more" and synth lines are artfully woven in and out until at around 4 minutes you finally get "You don't have to be in 'Who's Who' to know what's what" and the main portion of the song begins in earnest.

In the same way that "Yes" brings together so many of your favorite PSB sounds, textures and feelings in an original fashion, this remix will trigger all the right synapses and have you flashing back to everything from the "Who, what, where, when" remix of "Was It Worth It" to the spoken bits in "Paninaro." It is definitely their most exciting and original remix in recent memory, and an endorphin-releasing example of how to do a remix right!

The promo includes two other excellent remixes, which I believe are available in the digital bundles for offer. Richard X's fantastic remix of "The Way It Used To Be," and Kid Unicorn's cute and satisfying remix of "DYSMC" - but even these can't compare to the disco mastery on display in the PSB's wonderful "Possibly More" remix.
