5th real group album is worth 4.5 stars

It's been almost 9 unfortunate years since M.O.P. dropped an album of new material, and this would be their 5th album, and another worthy of 4.5 stars. Over that long break they did have 3 albums of remixes/unreleased songs from the past come out, and they were, as always from M.O.P., good albums ("Mash Out Posse" in 2004 which was just a remix album of older songs over rock & roll beats, "M.O.P. Salutes the St. Marxmen" from 2005, and "Ghetto Warfare" from 2007). This one doesn't have as many hard street tracks as we all love from M.O.P., but it is a very good album nevertheless, and does have some of them hard, street songs. With 14 songs, you get 1 classic, 2 ok songs, the other 11 are good, and mostly real good songs. Guests appear on 5 songs, rapping on 3 and doing the hook on 2. Like another reviewer said and fixed, the track listing on the CD booka nd back cover is completely wrong (the correct tracklisting is on the actual CD though). At times it seems Billy Danze is off and not as energetic in his rhymes, but on other tracks he is right back on point the way I love to hear him. Production is prety good as well. Fizzy Womack does 4, Statik Selektah and DR Period each do 2, Taylor Made, Nottz, M-Phazes, DJ Premier, Ron G, and Green Lantern each do a song. A great album to have from one of the most hardcore and street oriented groups in the history of hip-hop.

#1 - 8.5
#2 - 9 (nice beat)
#3 - 9 (f/ Rell -- nice beat)
#4 - 7.5
#5 - 7.5

#12 - 9
#13 - 8.5 (f/ Redman)

after hearing the album over the internet and here on amazon b4 it dropped i didnt get the full sound and there fore thought it was only ok but after purchasing the full release and listening in the headphones this cd is off the hook! dope beats and of course fame and danze come correct on the lyrics. this is classic mop and classic hip hop the only reason i dont give it five is because i was expectin more collabos with premo. at least a few more tracks would have been enough but hey the cd is still dope! real hip hop fans go get this!!
Its the Mash Out Posse! Rugged, Neva Smoov!

They're baaaack! The First Family is back with they're new album "The Foundation". Its pretty good, but the joint ends on 3 throwaway tracks, 2 of which surprisingly produced by DR Period, the guy who made "How About Some Hardcore" and "Ante Up". Statik Selektah came through with 2 solid joints, one featuring Termanology. Green Lantern made a banger, literally called "Bang Time", but Styles P didn't bring the energy on that track, but Ghostface would have. Nottz started the album off right, Preemo laced them with singer Rell (remember him?). Unfortunately, there's an Autotune (!) track on here, sung by Demarco, produced by M.O.P's Lil Fame. Other than that misstep, Lil Fame has really grown into a solid producer, making bangers for this new album like "Stop Pushin", "Rude B*st*rd", and "Blow The Horns". Same subject matter, same old Mash Out Posse.

By the way, as I suspected before getting this record, the track listing is waaay off. Here's the correct track listing:

1) I'm A Brownsvillian
2) Blow The Horns
3) What I Wanna Be f/ Rell
4) Foundation
5) Stop Pushin
6) Crazy f/ Termanology
7) Street Life f/ Demarco
8) Forever And Always
9) Rude B*st*rd
10) Brooklyn
11) Bang Time f/ Styles P of D-Block
12) Sharks In The Water
13) Riding Through f/ Redman
14) Salute A G

I don't know if yall here it in that order if you listen to the snippets on Amazon.
The production!!!!

MOP really did a good job on the this album. Danze and fame as usual come with the raw, gritty, super lyrical bars but what was really impressive was the production of the album. This album has some outright dope tracks that danze and fame really work well on to make complete songs. The highlight of the whole album is the appearance of Redman on RIDING THROUGH. The Foundation is a good addition to the M.O.P. Legacy. All in all this album is classic material just like KRS/Buckshot release.
