Reassuring, but dated Submitted on: 2009-09-12 |

Like just about every other reviewer here, I agree that this is a return by Oakenfold to his roots. You'll find the familiar vocals, organic sound and operatic flourishes that made us all fall in love with him in his heyday. In short, this is a set that transports (excuse the pun) you back to 1999, and that's where the problem comes in - the trance scene has moved on, but judging by this set Oakey hasn't.
Not that it's a bad outing (hence the 3 stars), and there are a number of excellent tracks, but somehow the set lacked cohesion for me, and I found the numerous plugs for Perfecto on the second disc quite irritating. Die-hard fans will no doubt love the set, but I was hoping for more. |
