 Absolutely a Winner

My mom was / is a blues fanatic, she's 100% anything Malaco or Malaco like. We grew up listening to artist like Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, ZZ Hill, Little Johnny Taylor etc, etc. Bobby Womack was a staple in our house and one of my dads favorite artist. When I ran across this CD, I was super excited. Calvin Richardson is a very soulful artist and if anyone can bring this collection of songs to the forefront for younger fans who wasn't necessarily into Bobby Womack before, he can and does.
Richardson is so talented it's amazing that we don't hear more than we have from him. You will love his spin on these classics. He keeps it true to the original but gives them a current feel. I love, love this CD, I mean come on it's Calvin Richardson & Bobby Womack! If you are curious about it, even just a little bit - just get it, you will not regret it! |

| I'm sick of artists releasing covers album...except when they are done like this. This is a well thought out and intelligent release. Many of Mr Womack's tracks I didn't recognise, so it was like they were new tracks for me. The production is modern and does not sound in the least bit dated yet still respecting that classic soul sound. Calvin has the vocals chops to go with it. It looks like everyone is giving this CD 5 stars and for good reason. This will be hard to beat for r&b album of the year. Awesome |

| I am a woman who is 41 years of age and grew up on Bobby Womack and others of his era via listening to my Dad's music collection. This CD as delivered by Calvin Richardson should make Bobby Womack extremely proud. Bobby Womack has always been a favorite of mine, and he is even more outstanding live!! Calvin Richardson's interpretation of the infamous and melodic sounds of Bobby Womack's music is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! Calvin Richardson indeed does this project justice with his unique and powerful vocal delivery of the lyrics on each track. Calvin is feeling every single word he sings...it's obvious that Calvin understood where Bobby Womack was coming from lyrically, as he put forth strong emphasis on every note attached to each of these songs. This CD is a MUST BUY for any fan of great soul music whether you are a Bobby Womack fan from way back or not....you will most certainly treasure and cherish this CD for many years to come. This project is a must have for any music lover's collection...to be handed down for many generations!! Calvin Richardson whole-heartedly did his thing on this compilation!! Nope, you can't have mine....you've got to get your own!! (smile) |
