| It takes a few listenings to really understand where this concept is going. Steve Wilson is brillaint and at times unveven. PT is an outstanding band that has stayed under the US radar far too long. "Time Flies" is a great song that almost could be a "radio hit" in its edited form. The long form however, is a tribute to David Gilmore's playing on Animals. One can imagine a young Steve playing that album over and over and inspiring him to become what he is today. However the real genius here as with other PT albums, lies in Colin Edwards bass and the superb drumming. Absolutely a masterpiece. Don't ruin it by listening to it on your Ipod headphones. Get a pair of Bose headphones and plug them into your amp, using a good CD player! Best since Warszawa. |

Excellent, 5 stars, this is a masterpiece Submitted on: 2009-11-11 |

To all of you in Porcupine Tree, thank you. I'm a fan, I have most of your other releases, and this is a masterpiece. I'm also a professional musician, and it's guys like you that inspire me to try harder and be better. This release is beautiful, haunting, subtle.
To you Porcupine Tree fans who are on the fence about buying this: Well, obviously some people are not 100% satisfied. I cannot fathom why. This is a great pc of music from start to finish. It is alternately dynamic, powerful, beautiful, haunting, heavy, moody, and sublime. Personally, I did not "need to listen to it several times", I loved it right from the first song.

refreshing good music Submitted on: 2009-11-11 |

| Good to see that there is still a band out there that has excellent songwriting skills, great musicianship and the guts to be creative in a now very crappy and uncreative music world!!! |

To say I'm a big PT fan is certainly an understatement. I have every record and have been to countless shows. I only say this to drive home how much I was _underwhelmed_ by this record at first. I didn't like it. Time Flies was a very enjoyable cut, but nothing else clicked for me. It just didn't seem as tight as the previous albums.
Well, after a couple months, I now realize, the problem was me. This record is full of themes and thoughts that just get in you and won't let go. It took about 10 full listens over the course of about a month and a half before I really started to understand exactly what all was going on. The Incident is an amazingly well crafted, textured work, that can't easily be broken up into pieces and still appreciated in as meaningful a way.
All I can say to those who aren't enjoying it as much, just give it time. It's a grower, and it's worth the wait. |

Best Album to Date From PT!!! Submitted on: 2009-11-04 |

| To anyone who is a PT fan, this album is a MUST buy. Everytime a new PT album comes out, I always end up thinking that the new album is better than the last. Why? Because as they release their albums, you can hear how much they have grown in their musical abilities as artists (NOT entertainers.) I did end up seeing PT live in Chicago on 9-22-09 where they opened with this album. I had not heard any of the music off the album at the time I was at the concert. However, I was blown away by this album. In my opinion as a die hard PT fan, I think this is their best work to date. But as artists they continue to surprise me with every new album. The beautiful lyrics as well as the music just grabs you and sucks you in for the ultimate ride of your life. |
