Honestly, I was very disappointed with this album. It's neither worthy of the first, nor of the band whose name it bears. The special features were uninspiring, and the music itself was a bad deviation from the first album.
I suppose I was expecting something more akin to the original special edition - meaningful extra content worth the purchase. This... wasn't. The videos just don't capture my interest and make worthy the "special edition" modifer. Yeah, it's extra content, but is it really worth it? Personally, I don't find them anything to get excited over.
But in the long run, that's okay. That would only be a deduction of a single star from my end over that. No, what really blasts this album for me is the music itself. The vocals were so warped I had to wonder if they'd used a different lead singer compared to the first album. Way too high pitched. Dethklok vocals should hit my base speaker hard enough to rattle the rest of my CDs off the shelf. This sounds more like Mr. Small was coming off a Helium binge in comparison to the first album.
While the rest of the music is a worthy sequel, the vocals are just knocked up too high. The principle sound is lost, and the essence of Dethklok is lost in the process.
If/when a third album is release, I'll still buy it, and I'll still recommend this to any hardcore Dethklok fan. However, for anyone who hasn't looked into Dethklok beyond just Metalocalypse, I'd point them at the first album as the superior without any hesitation. |

| What can I say? The title says it all. Awesome album, and a step up from the last one. |

Dethalbum II is Good Submitted on: 2009-11-05 |

| Even better than the first! If you liked the original Dethalbum the second won't let you down! The songs and lyrics are noticably more complex and refined. The deluxe edition is essential. for the mere extra two dollars you get a bonus DVD! Well worth the price. Without a doubt the best album relesed this year! |
