Not Bad, Not That Great Either. I'd take a risk and buy it Submitted on: 2009-10-05 |

I didn't know that SES had a new 2009 album until i got on amazon.com. After loving there first cd and there 3rd.(sad there 2nd one isn't buyable)I had to give it a listen i've been following these guys since "bottom of the bottle" Saddly I need to give 'Consciousness' there 4th cd an ok rating. I don't mind slow songs, but the cd is full of them, which is when your use to them screaming things like " stupid ********** pull your head out your *** and seewhat don't you get, was i stuttering i don't need to take your **** get away from me" A mellow cd is a bit of a shocker.
I mean the lyrics are good but when i played the cd on repeat i just got bored i felt like it was lacking something. Still its not a terrable cd i just have mixed feelings on it but i get that these guys are just trying to survive in a cut throat business.(Even if it is sad that my windows media player as them pop)

S.E.S. returns with a vengeance Submitted on: 2009-09-23 |

I've been a fan of these guys ever since their very grungy, melody-based rock debut. Their follow up Anxiety was never released but thanks to file sharing sites can be easily accessed and is very good if not better than their debut. Then came Vultures, the widely released but not so successful third album. Don't get me wrong, it had some good songs but was easily the least of their four releases to date.
Alas, we reach Consciousness. I've gotta say, this is probably my favorite S.E.S. album of them all. "We're Through" is destined for underground (and possibly mainstream) rock radio greatness. Haven't really heard a single rock song since Ugly by the Exies that was as catchy as this. Anywho, not to dwell on the one song, the rest of the album is killer. For under ten bucks, it's really quite a steal. |

| The previous review by V. Bellomo was very accurate. While I agree with V. Bellomo, I just need to add that the previous releases were always a little raw; and I never knew if SES had a true direction. This CD is polished, well written lyrically & instrumentally. If I could tweak anything, I'd like more of the rockin' uptempo songs. Just a COUPLE light/soft songs are fine though. I hope they continue in this vein. |
