Sick Lyrics + Sick Beats= FIRE. BUY THIS ALBUM! Submitted on: 2009-10-15 |

Okay look, I've been waiting for an album like this in a long long time. I got Cuban Linx 2 and that had me pumped about hip hop again. Then I heard about this joint from someone on youtube... and the rest is history.
The smile on my face is so damn big from how dope this is. Finally I can bump something else in my car other than Cuban Linx. Don't get me wrong, yeah there are some other dope artists, but this is EXACTLY what I've been missing. This is just so sick.
Let me say right now, Apathy brings TOP NOTCH Lyricism. PERIOD. If you love dope rhyming then get this. I'm finally trying to learn the verses again.
Please don't download this. BUY this! It is so worth the money. Oh and you can get it for $10. I think they got the price high here on Amazon, which is the version I bought cause I didn't want to wait to get this, but if you click the buy new link you can find stores that have it for cheaper.
But regardless, please buy this, Apathy deserves money for this. Plus I love the artwork on the cover. This album has 21 songs and it feels like a double album almost. Definitely worth the money.
Album Breakdown:
"Hell's Angel"- Here we get a taste of this awesome lyrcist and the reason for the album title. Peep this:
"This is for my mother and father, my aunts and my uncles
Who taught me to be humble and that life's always a struggle.
Rats I know a couple, I'll catch you in the jungle
Cause I'm a boa constrictor mutha f..ka wanna snuggle?"
"Money Orientated"- This blends in so well with the Intro "Hell's Angel" that you think it's one long song that is just building up, then "Gov' Cheese" and "On and Off the Mic" sort of keep the same vibe but escalate it. Very enjoyable. You will hit repeat on these
"Back in LA"- This brings a smoother vibe but still not slow. This reminds me of what Kanye could do today if he stopped the auto tune stuff he is doing.
"Shoot First" is my jam! This is that old school vibe that is exactly what made us love Cypress Hill. Reminds me of "How I could just kill a man".
"I'm a Demigod" this is just SICK. Again, if Kanye was on his College Drop Out vibe again he would have made a beat like this. I love this. Again, dope lyrics.
"True Love"- slowing it down for us but keeping it true hip hop. This reminds me of old Ghostface. I almost wish Ghost was on this. This song is so damn dope. (lol okay i may be overdoing it but damn, this album is the TRUTH.)
"Mind Ya Business"- pretty good song. One of the 2 songs that are just okay to me. Not totally digging how the sample was used. He comes with it on the lyrics. But way better than most crap out now.
"Thinkin'"- This song is why I love hip hop. This song just bangs so damn hard.
"This is the Formula"- Hot! Another banger! The horns are so hot in this. Again hot flow.
"Guys and Girls"- Put this on the radio PLEASE! This is another song that would be awesome with Ghostface on it. HOT! Kanye... are you listening to this?
"Any Day"- This is the other that is just okay to me.
"Candy"- Hot! Love the old school sample. Very very nice!
"Run, Run Away"- Very Nice. Love the Mo Town feel.
"No Sad Tommorrow"- Nice, very very nice. Good message in his lyrics too.
"Rhode Island"- This goes hard!
"What Goes Up"- Hot! The intro is a little long for me though but the lyrics are awesome on this.
"Hard Times On Planet Earth"- SICK SICK SICK! LOVE THIS! BANGER! This one gets serous volume in my car.
"Slave"- Oh man... dude this one is the one sort of "dark" song on the album and man... this is LEGIT! I find myself hitting repeat on this one. The story he tells is ILL.
"Victim"- Now this is my type of song here. I love flipping these types of samples. This is another song with awesome story telling. I think he should have ended the album with Slave though cause this is more laid back. But it fits the whole "Wanna Snuggle" dark image. Holly Brook did a nice job on the chorus.
So the moral to this review is, why isn't Apathy more popular? This album is so amazing. So there you have it. That's my review. Hope it was helpful to you. Peace. |

"It's The Land of The Rhymes And I'm A Demigod" Submitted on: 2009-10-06 |

I don't usually write reviews, but I must give credit, where credit is do. This is hands down one of the best Hip Hop albums of 2009. There is not a bad track on here. Guest appearances include Celph Titled, Holly Brook and B-Real to name a few.
Bottom Line: If you only buy one album this year, make it "Wanna Snuggle?" |
