Huge Mistake, Rod Submitted on: 2009-11-20 |

| I loved Rod Stewart's American Songbook CDs, but I detest this one. To me, the songs on the American Songbook albums can be redone by any singing artist with a great voice and Rod Stewart's voice was very well suited to that music. I thought he was nothing short of great on those albums. But, I think that this album is a huge waste of Rod's talent and it could be detrimental to his career. Most of the songs were done by the artist who should have done them and they don't lend themselves to a redo by other artists. I never thought that Rod Stewart could make an album that I would want to turn down the audio on it after hearing it the first time. I hope he is much wiser about his next release. |

Listen before you buy Submitted on: 2009-11-20 |

| I should have listened to some of the samples before purchasing. I was expecting more music like the Great American Songbooks. Dissappointed. |

Here he goes again... Submitted on: 2009-11-19 |

| Rod the rock'n'roller sold his soul many years ago for the almighty buck. You can't stink more than this. Too bad, Rod, but it's over with me. I thought you would not go any lower, but you did. What next ? The bluesbook, the jazzbook, the moviebook. Who cares anymore ? |

Could Live Without It Submitted on: 2009-11-18 |

Rod's consistent infatuation with doing cover tunes is getting old. The voice that made him famous is there, but the feeling is tired and boring. He seemed to run through these "canned" tunes like another day at the office. It is disappointing to see such a great talent just going through the motions to crank out a CD for the Christmas rush. It would have been great, had he waited to use this wonderful voice to sing something new, entertaining and exciting to the ear and I feel he shouldn't have settled for second best.
Rod is too great a talent to be derailed from what made him famous in the first place. The fire, passion and pure emotion he showed for so many years is not present in these songs.......a real disappointment to say the least.
