Emotional!!! Submitted on: 2009-11-22 |

| With every piece that plays you can see the scene play out in your mind. The music literally has you feeling the emotions. Edward Leaves, Dreamcatcher & Marry Me, Bella will have you in tears while listening to these three songs. One doesn't need words to know what's going on through out this score, once you've seen the movie. Every song is wonderful in it's own way. |

In my opinion, I think the New Moon score is BRILLIANT! I did like the Twilight score, but New Moon is so much better!
The songs are beautifully written & arranged, and I am so impressed by it.
I know some are saying that they were surprised/disappointed by it because it was so different than Twilight, but I think that with a new director should definitely come a new composer. Desplat did an incredible job. I could listen to this score on repeat for hours at a time without getting bored with it.
Brilliant job!! |

| A priceless score and one of Desplat's best. I think what many people are overlooking here is that the Twilight saga, while packed with vampires and wolves, is still essentially a romance (consider the target audience, guys). Desplat gives us a score that embodies all the sensuality and danger of the Twilight world without resorting to the loud, overblown strokes that would have been the predictable way to go. |

Change Can Be a Good Thing, but Not in This Case Submitted on: 2009-11-21 |

For me (and I am sure many others), the music is one of the most important things in a movie. And, when you have a film that is part of a series, some continuity is important. For example, when one sees a Star Wars film, they expect John Williams music and The Force Theme.
I have been SO excited to hear the score for New Moon all year, for I Loved the Twilight Soundtrack by Carter Burwell! I even bought the Piano Music book of it! It is one of my favorite Scores of all time!
Initially, I was very disappointed to hear that Burwell would not be composing the music for the second movie. But, then, I thought Desplat would still utilize some of Burwell's tones, like Bella's Lullaby and some of the dangerous undertones.
If I had not had such high hopes and had not been acquainted so well with the first score, I may have been able to appreciate Desplat's music a little more. But, it does not live up to my expectations or carry any similiarities to the first film.
I really hope Desplat does not compose the Score for Eclipse. I have to agree with some of the other reviews that mention this is a "forgettable" score and one that could be attached to any romantic movie or drama. |

| When I listened to the score of the first Twilight movie I wasn't that impressed with it. It had a few good tracks such as "Bella's Lullaby" and "I Know What You Are" but I couldn't help but feel that Twilight deserved better. Yes, it was a unique score but not nesessarily in a good way. I knew the score for New Moon would be different when I heard the track called "The Meadow", featured on the New Moon Soundtrack. It had a much more mysterious, haunting feel to it and the theme was beautiful(and I'm just a sucker for the piano!). The new composer Alexandre Desplat is absolutely wonderful! His music has a Lord of the Rings feel to it. It is very strong and epic yet it can be so sweet and romantic and that same mysterious theme called "The Meadow" is reprised over and over again throughout the score. But don't worry, there are other themes here too such as Voluri Waltz and Romeo & Juliet. All in all this is 100% improved from the last soundtrack and I would recommend it to anybody who is a fan of orchestral movie scores. Hopefully Alexandre Desplat will be conducting the score for Eclipse as well. |
