The single from DREAM "You Never Done It Like That" put Captain & Tennille back in the top 10 with yet another Neil Sedaka tune. This fine, yet somewhat overlooked pop-music treasure was Toni & Daryl's last LP for A&M Records. The set also includes "You Need A Woman Tonight" and the Beach Boys-inspired tunes "I’m On My Way" and "Back To the Island." This recording sounds better than ever digitally remastered on CD for the first time. Yet another reminder of the pop-perfection this couple was capable of producing. Captain & Tennille dominated in 1976, with this brilliant follow-up to their debut. Another top-10 album, SONG OF JOY was the duos’ best-selling LP and garnered three top 5 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 (all of which went to #1 on the adult contemporary charts.) These were "Lonely Night (Angel Face)," "Shop Around" and that little song about Suzie & Sam, "Muskrat Love." Moving over to Casablanca Records in 1979 was indeed a good move for Captain & Tennille – as it catapulted them right back to the top of the charts with the #1 smash "Do That To Me One More Time," another showcase for not only Toni Tennille’s amazing vocals, but her songwriting talents as well. A sexier, more adult image graced the cover of MAKE YOUR MOVE - which went to #24 on the Billboard album charts. A slick and sophisticated production, this release features two other moderately successful singles – "Love On a Shoestring" and "Happy Together (A Fantasy.)" Available for the first time on CD, this digitally remastered gem included new 2005 liner notes by Toni Tennille.

TONI TENNILLE AND DARYL DRAGON HAD THEIR FIRST HIT RECORD as "Captain & Tennille" in 1975 with the #1 smash (and Grammy Record of the Year) "Love Will Keep Us Together." Every year since then fans have asked them to record a Christmas album. Proving again that good things do indeed come to those who wait, Retroactive Entertainment is proud to announce the first studio album in more than 20 years from the duo Billboard magazine ranks among the top 10 of all time!

Toni & Daryl had a wonderful time making this new Captain & Tennille holiday CD. It represents the many different styles of music the duo enjoys. "I think there's a holiday song here for just about everyone--adults and children alike." notes Toni. "I must confess that, as we were working on the music, I was thinking a lot about the children. I ought about how I would love to see them smile and laugh when they listen to `I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas." There are also some lovely songs that adults will particularly enjoy, such as the classic "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and other ballads. Toni Tennille wrote four original Christmas songs for the CD, including "Tahoe Snow," "Christmas in California," " The Christmas Star" and "Boogie Baby Christmas." Daryl Dragon offers up three instrumentals in the mix, all of which are quite fascinating--sometimes charming, sometimes outright funny, and sometimes, as in the case of "Daryl of the Bells," a musical trip through the mind of " the Captain!" So what is the secret of Christmas? The song that closes the album (written by the great American songwriters Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Heusen) discloses the secret with these lines: "So may I suggest the secret of Christmas is not the things you do at Christmas time, but the Christmas things you do all year through."

The duo’s third release, COME IN FROM THE RAIN was a bit more mellow, featuring some gorgeous ballads like the title track, written by Melissa Manchester & Carole Bayer Sager. The "mellow" exception being the frantic, keyboard-driven single "Can’t Stop Dancin’." Daryl Dragon wails on the keys for this hit song (featured recently on FOX's dance competition show, So You Think You Can Dance.) The disc concludes with the song they closed their TV variety show with each week - "We Never Really Say Goodbye." Digitally remastered and available domestically on CD for the first time, with all-new packaging and liner notes by Toni Tennille.
