Cape Town born Carina Bruwer is an extremely versatile flautist, equally at home and well respected on a Classical stage as in a Jazz / world music environment. Her technical brilliance and Classical precision (she holds the degree BMus.Hons cum laude), combined with her dazzling virtuosity and creative improvisations, entices audiences young and old into an exciting and unique musical world.
Carina is coincidentally also a record breaking open water marathon swimmer, often braving treacherous oceans where no one has gone before, covering distances of over 10km at a time.
Artist Mission
To utilise Classical training, technical brilliance, sensual appearance and general media interest in the unique flautist-swimmer profile, as a tool to bring more people from all walks of life to the concert hall / theatre. In the same time emansipating instrumental, Classical and African music and the flute as such.
