|
Carlene Godfrey grew up in Albany, New York and has turned heartbreak from the impossibly small dating pool of the city into an 11-song CD. Her voice emotes the full language of relationships; from sweet to sad, from longing to frustration and everywhere in between. Her songs echo the sentiment, and are personal discoveries of self that reveal the paths one must take in life. The album was recorded in late 2003 and early 2004 and is currently being promoted throughout the Albany and upstate New York area.
Artist Mission
Online, Carlene’s music has caused quite a stir. Regularly featured on Top-20 rotation lists, her songs “The Way to Make You Stay,” "Far Behind" and "The Girl Who Cried Wolf" were all featured as "Track of the Day" on the popular musician’s website GarageBand.com.
Michael McCartney of KEAO/KONI/KPMW radio in Hawaii has played Carlene on-air and says this about her music:
“The talent of Carlene cannot be labeled in the world of music today. She is in a class all by herself. All one needs for proof is to listen to a song like "The Girl Who Cried Wolf". The raw emotion of "Tell Me, Baby" is done with such simplicity that we had no choice but to surrender to the power of that complex song and add it to our playlist. The radio airwaves are better for it.”
Music Influences
Carlene says it best herself when describing her influences:
“My influences are every great pop/rock/punk/metal song ever written. Once you strip it all down the songs are the same: A great song has a great hook. That's why I love music.”
Indeed, it all comes down to a great song and a great hook, and luckily for listeners everywhere, Carlene Godfrey has both.
