O3 Trilogy to Get Much Heavier, Admits Charlie Dominici

(PRWEB) October 10, 2005 -- Charlie Dominici, one time Dream Theater front man, admits that the first of his trilogy of CD's is no indication of what is to come.” The second part is going to be much heavier. Something the Dream Theater fans will appreciate".

When the first CD in the "O3 Trilogy" came out on July 5th 2005, fans of the singer’s original band "Dream Theater" may have found the CD to be on the light side musically. After all, it’s only acoustic guitar and vocal throughout the entire CD.

"I wanted it to be that way because the story starts out so simply and it seems natural for the sound to be simple also. As things get more involved the music will get heavier as well,” the singer says. “Fans can expect a more progressive metal sound on these next two installments".

When the debut album from Dream Theater, ”When Dream and Day Unite”, came out back in 1989, Charlie Dominici had established himself as a progressive rock vocalist, so when this new CD arrived the fans that knew him from those days were shocked at the acoustic unplugged sound of it.

“I believe what will happen is that people who hear the new stuff on the second and third CDs will then be interested to see what the first one is like. In that context it will start making more sense that the first CD is so low key and in the overall scheme of things, things will fit as the pieces start to come together.”

It would seem the idea is that things get more technological as time progresses, not unlike the real world.

“I wanted to create an atmosphere like a story from the history books where the beginning is very black and white and underdeveloped but gets more complex and technologically advanced with time.” Charlie admits that it was also convenient to do the first part of the trilogy as an acoustic solo piece but he swears that he would have waited to do it with a full band if the idea didn’t come to him this way. “In the end it will make for a more interesting listen when the three parts are listened to in their chronological order,” adds Charlie.

One thing is clear, there are no other rock trilogy albums out there that take this unconventional approach. Charlie has begun the search for talented players that can help bring this vision to life and he hopes to have the lineup in place for a world tour in spring of 2006 with the release of the second installment of the trilogy. He is currently auditioning musicians in both California and New York as well as in Europe.
