Neptune Pink Floyd forum has launched their latest tribute project that will feature the musical talents of community members from all over the world. The community has named long standing member Geoff Coldiron as Manager, Engineer and Producer of a double album greatest hits retrospective spanning the 30 year career of a fictitious Pink Floyd-like band called Charybdis.
Demos of music, interview scripts and album artwork, as well as other concepts and ideas, will be submitted to the project for consideration of being included in the recording and subsequent album release.
Songs will be written and recorded in the styles and fads of music that was recorded and performed from the late 60's to the early 90's. Great care will be taken to reproduce, as authentically as possible, the writing styles, sounds and production techniques of each era.
Once the demos are collected and sorted, auditions will begin to select the members of this 5 piece band that will record each instrument and vocal part for each song. Recording is expected to commence in early January 2008.
Interviews will be on the album as well, lending insight into a few of the band members and their thoughts on music, life, love and things in general.
In addition to these things, period music videos will be made for selected songs and will be placed on Youtube for all to see and enjoy. There will also be a website launched that will allow access to information and material as it is being amassed.
This promises to be a unique and interesting collaboration and musical compilation, as well as an extraordinary feat of worldwide musical collaboration. Join us on our journey to tell the story of the group Charybdis through over 2 hours of period pieces spanning the contemporary history of music.
