Artist Biography

"Stone" is the personification of hard work. He shows up like the boss or CEO of something big and important; all business, answering questions, and giving orders. Nothing moves until he moves. Stone makes things happen. And what happens...is music; raw, ugly, passionate music, sonic tragedies with a conscience. The bang of prison bars, the dance of a dope fiend's stride, the rhythm in a thick girl's thigh, the growl of a pit- Stone's lyrics are everything around him. They are the lives, the stories, and the truth. brbr

His lyrics are a soundscape of ghetto questions and answers. Answers he found the hard way. Stone, a former Cash Money recording artist, has recorded with a long list from Cash Money's revolving roster, including the Hot Boys, Big Timers, Juvenile, and TQ. After gracing the songs of other major recording artists, like T.I., Mac 10, and Petey Pablo, and polishing his flow over beats by Timbaland, Mannie Fresh, Jazze Pha, and others, Stone couldn't figure out why his solo debut project never seemed to be the next in line. "Once I realized their restaurant wouldn't feed me like I could feed myself, I decided to eat somewhere else.” Stone declares, from the part of the "Nolia" that hasn't been knocked down, "Money never changed me, it just changed the way people looked at me." Stone left cash money with a taste for something better and an insider's education on the business of making music.brbr"Lac" is not just another gangsta rapper. He is a New Orleans storyteller with tales of tragedy and triumph, where names are not changed to protect the innocent. He writes tales of Saratoga St. and Erato, the corner of his birth in the infamous Third Ward of New Orleans, LA. The Third Ward is a nucleus of ghetto activity, where hustlers, pimps, dope fiends, and ganstas, young and old, stop by, pass through, hang out, and get money. Lac learned to hustle on that corner, and to rhyme. One would keep him from the other for several years, until a childhood friend and neighbor Brian "Baby" Williams, also known as the 1 Stunna from Cash Money Records, invited him to join the clique. As a member of the flashy label, Lac experienced the life of a superstar; toured the world, drove fancy cars, made major television network appearances, recorded with platinum selling artists, and everything except come out with a project of his own. From '98 to 2003, Lac waited. He got better, he worked, he got better, he supported label mates, and he got better, all without ever receiving the attention he deserved. But he got better, better enough to feel like he could make it on his own. "All my lil checks, I was banking ‘em," Lac confesses, between sips of a daiquiri. "I came back to the streets, got me a nice package, and got it on, and it's been good every since.”
