Album Summary
NOW AVAILABLE AS A DOUBLE ALBUM!!! Pitchfork.com's Best New Music 9.2. The highly anticipated follow-up to 2007 s Cryptograms album which launched the band into the stratosphere of hype. Whether or not that was or is deserved is entirely subjective. Microcastle was recorded over the course of a week at Rare Book Studios in Brooklyn, New York with Nicolas Verhes in April of this year. The album was recorded as a four-piece consisting of Bradford Cox, Lockett Pundt, Joshua Fauver, and Moses Archuleta. Saved by Old Times features a vocal collage by Cole Alexander of the Black Lips, and the album also features two songs with lead vocals by guitarist LOCKETT PUNDT, Agoraphobia and Neither of Us, Uncertainly. Includes a bonus LP with an entire second album of material titled Weird Era Cont.

2009 EP release from the Alt-Rock favorites. This is not some stop-gap release between albums, or mere leftovers from their most recent Microcastle album, but an all new session. The band loves the EP format and thinks it does not get the respect it deserves. Hell, some bands arguably work best in the EP format, think Cocteau Twins or My Bloody Valentine, and now maybe we should add Deerhunter to that list. That's certainly not to say their albums aren't great, but with 2007's Fluorescent Grey EP and this new one, a lucid argument can be made that minute for minute, and hook for hook, their two EP's can't be matched for visceral energy and pop smarts. Five tracks.

4 new songs recorded while mixing "Cryptograms". A snapshot of what direction the band might explore next? Probably not. This functions in many ways as an epilogue to both the LP & the accompanying well reported anxiety surrounding it's creation. The band now has a clean slate to explore something entirely new in the future. Video for "Strange Lights" directed by James Sumner
This double album pairs the critically acclaimed "Cryptograms" album w/ the follow-up "Fluorescent Grey" EP. NO EU/JAPAN/UK

Album Summary
Caution: Artwork will be considered OBSCENE by many individuals. Atlanta’s deer hunter unleash upon the world their debut full length. “turn it up faggot” features nine tracks of deer hunter’s catchy and infectious punk rock noise which features a total dance edge which is not cliché. Utilizing such influences as early 80’s sonic youth, chrome, pylon, the fall and others, deer hunter creates a sound which is not derivative, and is in fact unique to deer hunter. Shake that booty. Deer hunter is the brainchild of Bradford Cox and Moses Archuleta. Bradford and Moses started deer hunter in 2003 and deer hunter has undergone numerous line up changes. Due to shifting line up changes and uncertainty about what musical direction to undertake, deer hunter shows during this time period were very interesting. One never knew quite what to expect with each show being completely different from the previous show. Sometimes one was presented with music that totally pointed at genius, other times one was presented with pure crap. But that is what made deer hunter very interesting. Now that sense of direction is definitely present and deer hunter has put everything together and now are unleashing their madness upon the world. The band for this recording consisted of Bradford Cox, Moses Archuleta, Josh Fauver and Colin Mee. A new member has since been added. For those who are worried about the political correctness of the title of the album, it is called “turn it up faggot” because that is what has been yelled at Deer Hunter at numerous gigs over the course of their past 1.5 year existence. It’s a tongue in cheek sarcastic response to such stupidity.
