After nearly 3 years since his break on American Idol, singer/songwriter/musician Dezmond Meeks is still keeping the dream alive. A native of Louisiana, Dezmond found his calling to the Las Vegas area just 2 days after he was dismissed from the famed television show. No stranger to "music from the heart", Meeks was raised under heavy musical influences that ranged from rock to jazz to blues and even gospel! Although he's never been an advocate of using his idol notoriety, he's still continuously grateful for the opportunity. However... Life goes on!!!
In the past two and a half years of his residence in Las Vegas, Dezmond has had the opportunity to perform along side of some of the best musicians in this town including the players of Blue Man Group, Celine, Purple Reign, Ubershal, Elvis Lederer, Bobby Morris, Delisco, Clint Holmes, James Torme (son of Legendary singer Mel Torme) along with several other talented Las Vegas musicians and singers. It's in these experiences that Dezmond has grown as a vocalist and as a young man.
With a five octave vocal range at 24 years old, it's no wonder why everyone from Berry Gordy, legendary founder of Motown Records, to Paula Abdul and from Tom Jones to Celine Dion have all agreed openly that Dezmond is truly a singer far beyond his years... And at a 5'4'' frame, he's also far beyond his size... but we all know that big voices sometimes come in small packages!
Recently, Dezmond's first single "Them and Me" hit #5 on the idolwaves.com charts which only charts and rates radio play of material put out by American Idol Alumni. He's been fortunate to land an independent production deal with Joey Sykes and Fabrizio Grossi of Sounds of Pieces Inc in Los Angeles... but the road hasn't always been easy for him. Even a series of tragedy, disappointment, loss and loneliness could not stop the drive of Dezmond. The story is told through his voice and shown with every lyric.
Artist Mission
To successfully accomplish everything there is to obtain in the music industry while maintaining integrity, tact, poise and dignity. I believe that it is important to lead by example and inspire by the life I lead as so many have done for me and my fellow peers in this generation of music royalty!
