Born May 1, 1979 in manhattan, New York to Alvilda Rivera and Jaime Martinez Sr. Parents divorced after shortly turning 14 which landed him in Jacksonville, Florida. Growing up in New York, he formed an interest in the whole hip hop culture. At the age of 16 he got his first set of turntables at a local pawn shop. Like most of us that can't afford good equipment at first, he was forced to start on belt driven turntables and a Pyramid mixer made of wood. Initially, he just wanted to learn to scratch, and later found the art of mixing. brbr
After high school not knowing yet what to do with his life, he decided to get married and join the U.S. army landing him in Ft. Benning, Georga. Making friends as life brings it, they were invited one lucky evening/morning to a rave in near Atlanta, Georgia. It soon became a twice a month ritual , and found what he wanted to do with his life. Already having the tools to at least start somewhere, he began buying drum n' bass records. "It just had the right combination of hip hop elements with a new faster beat", he says. But as all this happens, the way he looked at music will never be the same. After the tour of the army was over, he separated with his wife shortly after. At the age of 21 frustrated with life, he decided to make a whole new one in Orlando, Florida. Working for Disney, he saved enough money to get the Technics 1200's he always wanted. When he thought his skills where up to par, he got his first real gig at a place called Cheerleaders in Kissimmee, FL. By this time, he had collected a lot of different types of music, but mostly in the breakbeat department. While developing his skills spinning 3 times a week, he managed his income to begin producing his own music. While slowly Self-learning his new equipment, he also went out to every mixing battle he could find and won several. After growing tired of Disney, he got a job in nearby Virgin Records, he even gets to spin once a month at Virgin Megastore @ Downtown Disney. Here he has had the opportunity to meet some of the U.S. best DJ's like DJ Icey and Baby Anne. Next, he found himself at a local gay club as a light technician/DJ (and no he is not gay). Currently, he is in the process of building a studio for Video/Audio production with a couple of business partners. With this business, they plan to do movie scores, documentaries, music, and videos just to name a few. The tital of this operation will be called "The Medling Kids". Although this is still under construction, he is also currently working on his own album/mix CD to be distributed within the Virgin Stores in the near future. This is one of the biggest steps for getting his name out there, but funding doesn't come that easy. So, taking baby steps with the determination of which he has to make it, and working hard to get their. "Everything worth while, never comes that easy", as he always says. Very down to earth, easy to talk to, this guy will take you through a musical journey with amazing beats that he has collected over the years. Now at the age of 27, with several remixes under his belt, he stays focused on this fairly new art form growing in his own unique path, incorporating everything he loves about music and it shows.
