Artist Biography

Bahamian Producer/Composer/Arranger Edward Thurston started in music at the age of seven by playing percussion instruments and participating in concert bands in parochial schools. Influenced by the sound of Stax Records and R&B soul groups such as L.T.D. Earth, Wind and Fire and Change, Thurston started writing songs as early as nine years old, inviting band members to his backyard to rehearse.

brbrMusicians and Funk groups, such as George Duke , The Crusaders and the Brothers Johnson led Thurston to try his hand at R&B Jazz/Fusion/Dance music. brbrOut of music for a few years, he decided to return to music, which was producing, composition and arrangement. These activities lead to creating a digital test album entitled “Edward Thurston’s’ Soundtrack of Life” which had a great response in Europe, United Kingdom and Russia.brbrHaving the ability to play several instruments helps Thurston determine what style to use for his songs. His music is classified as Acid Jazz/World Music. Thurston is evolving into other music forms such as, Far Eastern dance music, Eastern music, film soundtracks and symphonic music. Many of his compositions have been branded as “World Groove G-Funk”.brbrThurston’s’ songwriting style has a great range. As a student of history and spirituality, songs range from the supernatural “Age Of Aquarius” (not to be confused with the Fifth Dimension version), to child abduction (The Lost Children) to African interludes on the Kalimba and of course, love songs.brbrThurston is a charter member of the jazz nova group “The Groove Masters”.
