Berklee-trained singer and pianist Emily Jayne is gaining momentum as a local Duluth musician. Jayne has created an album of alternative pop/rock music much like artist Tori Amos, with tight vocal, piano & harpsichord harmonies along with some solid beats. Her moody, sultry and deep lyrics paint intriguing pictures with a flashes of whimsy.
Who is Emily Jayne? Born in Northern Minnesota, Emily Jayne has been captivating audiences from a young age. Jayne taught herself how to play the piano when she was 13 years old. Practicing 8 hours a day at times, she began composing.
Jayne found a soulmate in the writings and music of Tori Amos. "I wrapped myself up in Tori and took what inspiration was eatible."
Jayne continued her higher education at Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music. In 1999 Jayne moved back to her home town in MN. Within six months, she had recorded and distributed a hand-made CD of original tunes titled "Shading Marilyn."
In 2001, Emily began collaborating with other musicians and produced and album of original songs "Laed: Silencer," a cover album, "Lullabies for Demons," as well as several singles such as the heartfelt "Waiting For the Snow." In 2007, she recorded a live album at Beaners Central in Duluth, "Naked."
Now in Spring of 2008, roars in Kore's Bramble, Emily Jayne's brand spankin’ new album and for the first time, she has mixed her love of digital programming with the soul of her piano.
