Empathy is the solo work of electronic producer Stuart Elding. Born and raised in Boston, UK, Stuart was surround by diverse music from an early age which shows in the music he produces today.
Originally Stuarts’ work was far more underground in nature, producing happy hardcore ‘rave’ music which gained him some success with ‘Yeah Yeah Yah’ taking him to the quarter-finals of the Sony Dance music search in 1993 – a valuable lesson was learnt here – production quality.
Stuart Elding Surrounded by professional artists of the time, Stuart’s act left a lot to be desired in terms of sound quality and performance and it was here that the decision was taken to focus more on the music and less (far less) on live performances.
A number of years and a considerable amount of money later, Stuart gained enough knowledge and experience in producing both his own work and that of others to begin work on the debut album ‘Hiemal’ – a blend of breakbeat, chillout, jazz and blues – produced over three years with most songs being concieved initially for placement on TV and film soundtracks. The publishing company Raw42 gained a licence for ‘The Piece’ from the album, which is featured in Episode 18 of MTV's The Real World Las Vegas – so eventually the hardwork had paid off.
The influences of Leftfield, The Prodigy and Hybrid, are all apparent on the album with many comparisons being made with the music of Yonderboi, Kruder & Dorfmiester and Zero7 – ‘Hiemal’ is a unique work which has to be heard to be fully understood.
