Fabrizio Moretti (born June 2, 1980, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is the drummer of the American alternative rock band, The Strokes. He and his family moved to New York City when he was four years old, and had plans to stay there only for three years, but in the end they stayed for seventeen. In an interview for a Brazilian website, Leo Moretti, Fabrizio's brother, stated that even after all this time living in the States, they always felt like foreigners, considering themselves as Brazilians and always strongly identified with their Brazilian roots. As a teenager, Moretti attended the Dwight School with fellow band members Nick Valensi and Julian Casablancas.
In an interview, Moretti once stated that he believes "marriage is not anything that will secure the future of your relationship," and therefore plans to "never get married". Moretti is also an enthusiastic artist; he has multiple examples of his artworks at The Strokes' website, including a portrait of fellow bandmate Nick Valensi.
He is fluent in Portuguese. His parents and brother live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and he visits them twice a year. Moretti is now working on a side project during The Strokes' break called Little Joy.
He plays drums for the hip hop artist Har Mar Superstar in his live shows.
Quotes"It's so easy for people to jump to the wrong conclusions when they've only heard one three song EP
. While we are really appreciative of some of the comparisons we have been given, it is not the full picture. Hopefully when the album comes out people will realize it isn't just some New York thing and that it is a lot more universal than that."Citequote "I love music, but it is songs, bands, and albums that excite me rather than a specific drummer's style."Citequote
