Artist Biography

Marcel A. Thomas rap name G-Cell was born and raised in the heart of LA. He along with two other brothers and two sisters were raised by Ellen Thomas a single mother. G-Cell loved music at an early age and it soon became evident that music would play a large part in his life.

Growing up in the hood was no joke. One of the worst tragedies in G-Cell’s life was the losing of his older brother to gang violence. The pain of this loss would have a profound impact on him as it pushed him deeper into music. G-Cell began to realize that the life he was living and was taught to live was a lie. With that new found revelation, G-Cell began to record day and night. He would soon develop the unique flow and the lyrical prowess that could help his people turn life’s negatives into tomorrow’s positives.

“I really don’t have to talk loud or brag on where I grew up and what my name means in these streets. I just want to show people that although I lived it to the full, there are other things to talk about besides killing. But being from the streets in a real way, I can understand.”

G-Cell, while a sleeping lyrical beast to the public at large, is well known within the rap community. He has worked with such prominent MC’s and producers as E-40, Jazzy Phae, Battlecat, Too Short, Treach of Naughty By Nature, Neffu, Big Chuck, Drama Family and many more.
