Now known as "Gravemist", This is The band formerly known as Creepers. The band originated this "new old-fashioned" sound, often dubbed "creepabilly", a mix of dark gothic blues and a softer rockabilly edge including crooning ballads and love songs.
Gravemist are a band whose only permanent members have been Jason Demise and Natassja Noctis, the lead singer and lead guitarist respectively. Their music usually includes semi-acoustic instrumentation, with swing, rockabilly, and skiffle rhythmic styles as a base. The band is known for often incorporating heavy literary influence from Horror fiction, Steampunk, and Occult literature into their lyrics.
"The Creepers / Gravemist Story: "It was a dark night in 1956. These are the tales of Mr. Jason Demise, Ghost hunter and entertainer extraordinaire and my lovely partner the talented songstress Natassja Noctis. We both play music as part of the "Phineas Stein Creepabilly Travelling Show." TheCreepers/Gravemist story is an unusual one of two partners in musical journeys. The duo were killed in a car accident on a dark night in 1956. The story is still shrouded with mystery and the facts are even fuzzy to this day. What we do know Is that they came back to life in a local Chicago Graveyard and have been seen playing lounge and nightclub gigs. Yes Ladies and Gentlemen you heard me, they have been playing shows and even recording new music!. How can this be you may ask? Some suspect it may have something to do with the Absinthe they had consumed in 1956 that was prepared by a poisonous hand, a bitter rival enemy who wanted nothing more than to embarrass the duo. Hoping they would fly into fits of rage, instead it mellowed the team out long enough to produce "The Creepabilly Travelling Show " LP" They have been recording and releasing music since 1999.
Artist Mission
From the duo: "We re-united to create some smooth, loungey rockabilly, with dark lyrics about ghosts, lycanthropy and monsters. It was the return of the eerie sounds, which had been born in that garage so many years before. This night, what is now known as the signature sound of Gravemist was really born.
We decided that we wanted music that encompassed all the dark/gothic moods we loved, plus the old-fashioned music which we always listened to."
