Hector Lavoe was, and remains to this day, one of the greatest soneros of all time. His life in the fast lane was charactarized by sucess but also by trajedy and despair. The singer's life was immortalized in a full length feature film, El Cantante, starring Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez, and all by the off-broadway show 'Quien Mato a Hector Lavoe'. This collection features remasterd versions of Hector's greatest songs from his extensive list of recordings and collaborations. All the classics are present from the uplifting 'Mi Gente' and 'Che Che Cole' to the darker 'Todo Tiene Su Final' and the Afro-Cuban tinged 'Aguanile' showing Hector at his best. This is a fundamental addition to any salsa collection.

Album Summary
Revento was one of Héctor's and Fania's later albums and incorporated a variety of styles and influences. Tracks range from the emotional rendition of the classic Bolero 'Don Fulano de Tal' to other key cuts including the Charanga/Pachanga-flavored jam 'Dejala Que Siga,' the slightly philosophical 'La Vida Es Bonita' and the simultaneously sarcastic and humorous 'Cancer' (the latter tune talks about how everything is supposed to cause cancer these days). The album is a must-have for all fans of the greatest Salsero ever.
Héctor Lavoé continues to be source of tributes, covers, drama, and films. This collection of carefully remastered original songs affirms that the attention is well deserved. It features some of the classic hits he recorded together with Willie Colón, such as the rhythmically inventive "Che Che Colá" and "Aguanile." "Mi Gente" was the song in live performances that would celebrate his direct connection and empathy with people. "El Cantante," written for Lavoé by Rubén Blades, is reflective of his love for his vocation as a singer for the people. "El Dia De Suerte," "Todo Tiene Su Final," "Lloré," and "Plato de Segunda Mesa" are songs that speak about how to cope with bad luck, fate, death, betrayal, suffering, and uncertainty. These were all ingredients to Héctor's life, yet there is nothing sad in the music. On the contrary, his music is a celebration of life that inspires dancing. The influence of Lavoé will continue to be felt in the Latin music world, but nothing beats listening to this remastered original.
