| Jim Hession was selected by the Mississippi Arts Council to receive a $5,000 Business Recovery Grant for 2006.. There were only 50 BRG grants issued. Jim was very honored to be one of the recipients. These grants are co-sponsored by the Federal Government and the state of Mississippi. The arts are considered by the State of Mississippi to be one of its fundamental natural resourses. Looking at the arts in the United States, many famous Mississippi writers, composers and artists have flourished and contributed to the American culture. From the Mississippi Blues of the Delta area to the artists such as George Ohr and Walter Anderson of the Gulf Coast and such prominent writers as Harper Lee, Greg Iles, William Faulkner and actors such as Morgan Freeman, Mississippi has contributed more than its fair share of genius to the artistic landscape of America. Through this MAC grant Jim and Martha plan to contribute to the arts community of the Mississippi Gulf Coast by issuing new recordings of their music, which has become increasingly popular in the emerging jazz scene on the Gulf Coast. |
