The Ill Wind Ensemble uses completely spontaneous improvisation to create an unusual variety of sonic textures, from sparsely ambient to richly dense. The ensemble performs on instruments from western and world music traditions, as well as home-made and "found" instruments, and percussion. Another Eternity features clarinets, trumpets, shawms, reedpipes, PVC pipe instruments, whirling tubes, flutes and whistles, bells, and numerous other wind and percussion instruments whose origins range from the hardware store to India to Medieval Europe. The ensemble's creative approach to improvisation creates a compelling sound that could be described as "acoustic post-industrial trance music."
