On December 29th of last year, Muhammad Jami spent his final winter vacation alone in an empty house. With no food or media access, the artist was left with his computer and his imagination. Broken by a passed relationship he was only left to feel apathetic and unsure of what he felt so Muhammad started to compose music.
He started to recompose versions of MIDI Karaoke that he enjoyed singing that composed of artist like Phil Collins, Big Mountain, John Lennon and En Vogue. He made some dry compositions out of them along with some unfelt vocals just to kill time. He finally got into an album that is friend sent him. It was Medeski Martin and Wood that sparked the inspiration for the piece that broke a big plateau in his music, "Worst of Days".
With the percussive funk organ sounds and heavy rhythm, Muhammad was inspired to make a piece that not only challenged him musically, but meant something to his life. Worst of Days is a tripped down memory lane. It describes every single relationship and heart break that he received from it. Along with clever rhymes and a dirty rhythm, the song packs some poweful heat, unlike anything the artist ever made.
Muhammad, up until this point, hasn't been writing anymore songs. His latest works has been with MIDI and ready made covers simply because the artist is busy selling his new CD "Jami Mixed" and finishing up college.
Today he finished the song "Whatcha' Know About Hip Hop?" which is incuded in the new album entitled Hip Hop! Jami Hip Hop!. The artist main goal is to discover hip hop in a new view through old school techniques. The Song features Digital Scratch work on the artist own vocals and Soprano sax lines.
so Where is the artist heading?... Well after college he plans to move to NYC to work at a upscale restaurant because this one of many skills that the artist as enjoyed in the past. After college he will continue work on his music and find new ideas as his life is experienced in new and different ways.
