Once again the artist Muhammad Jami, also known as "Jami" has made another important step to achieving his dream. The song from his newest album "Jami:The Gatherer" has been synced to amazing footage of animals and nature.
The Artist is questioned by a reporter from Journalism school of Columbia University about the video.
Kevin Fasick Question: What was your intention with the song and the footage?
Muhammad Jami Answer: "To be honest with you, I wasn't certain of my intent at first. The song is about me fleeing from New York to help my brother out at a diffcult time in Pennsylvania. Now, for me to go back to the song and remake it with footage quite like this takes it to another level. The footage of animals are something that we tend to forget in the age of technology. Are transcendental ways are being clouded and literally up-rooted by our constant fascination with invention and modernity. We are so forgetful about the nature that surrounds us that our own planet is suffering. "
KF: How do you feel about global warming?
MJ: "Is it hot in here or is it just me? "
KF: After I saw the video it really made me feel as if I was in another place. Was that your intent?
MJ: Definitely. " The Far Away is about leaving to go to another place.... but the video shows you that the place isn't so far away-- it's the very planet we live in. I wanted it to be a reminder for what's there that we tend to forget about."
KF: This is my final question, What do you want people to get out of your music?
MJ: I want them to feel and have breathing room to question and react. Personally I think music is being fed to us. The mainstream industry is lacking talent and meaning. It's all about the image and less about change.
