Jovian Oblivion is a sonic voyage into musical realms and atmospheres seldom explored. The sonic voyage is now two albums strong with 2005's "Eye of the Mind" and 2007's "Frontier of Darkness." Solo artist Brent Matney writes and records all of the songs in his multi-track project studio. The music of Jovian Oblivion can be categorized as dramatic, theatrical, psychedelic and sometimes progressive 21st century modern rock music with influences from several different eras and genres of rock including: 90's Grunge, Classic Rock, Kraut Rock, 80's New Wave, 90's Industrial, Post Modern, etc. Jovian Oblivion also uses classical music as an influence deriving influences from chorale and opera.
Starting at the age of 9, Brent studied classical piano for four years and then taught himself how to play bass and guitar. At the age of 18, he played bass in his first rock cover band. At the age of 25, he purchased his first 4-track recorder and has been recording his bands and his own solo work, ever since. At the age of 32, he released his first solo album, "Eye of the Mind," in June of 2005. Now, he is 34 and will release his second solo album, "Frontier of Darkness" in February of 2007.
