Kathleen "Bird" York is a recording artist, actor and screenwriter.
After spending years in the indie circuit, York achieved global recognition with her song "In the Deep",(co written with Michael Becker) which appears on her album Wicked Little High and was written for the 2004 film Crash. "In the Deep" debuted at #64 on the Billboard chart and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Song. York performed the song live at the 78th Academy Awards in 2006.
Her song, "Have No Fear" (co written with Michael Becker), was also the As an actress, York has starred in over a hundred film and television projects. York starred as a young Naomi Judd in Love Can Build a Bridge, the four hour NBC miniseries about Judd's life. Other credits include six seasons of the The West Wing as Andrea Wyatt, Cold Feet, Northern Lights, Sublime, Crash. She also appeared in indie films such as Cries of Silence, The Big Day, ''Ball Don't Lie and on TV series such as Curb Your Enthusiasm and Desperate Housewives. She also played the character Renee Wheeler in the popular teen drama The O.C.
As a screenwriter, York has developed projects for Warner Brothers, Sony, Paramount and is currently writing a one hour pilot for Fox Television Studios.
Her latest EP Have No Fear was released on December 19, 2008 and a completed full record is expected to be released in 2009.
