I recently submitted "Your Pain in My Heart" (#2 on the Artistopia gospel charts) to the American Idol Songwriter contest. My hope is that this song will make it into the top twenty so that all of my supporters will be able to vote for it.
What Idol is looking for is a song that is emotionally charging, one that the American Idol audience can relate to, and one that captures the journey of the contestants. I felt like "Your Pain in My Heart," is that song. What better song can appeal to the emotions of others than the definition of empathy? Furthermore, I thought about how emotional each contestant gets when one has to go home. I could almost picture them singing the song to each other as they stand on the stage as it is a huge disappointment to get voted off.
If nothing else, I feel great about the possibilities that lie ahead. I mean this is American Idol we're talking about here! That's huge! Even if I don't win, I am elated because I know I have a shot. What a privilege and motivating way to share my vision--the music vision!!
