Kim Stockwood (born 11 November 1965 in St. John's, Newfoundland|St. John's , Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada) is a Canadian pop singer and songwriter. She was a member of Atlantic Canada|Atlantic Canadian regional music group Shaye from 2003–2009 with Damhnait Doyle and Tara MacLean (2003–2007).

Stockwood was most recently a presenter on the morning show on Astral Media 's CJEZ-FM (97.3 EZ Rock) Toronto for its EZ Mornings show with Humble Howard and Colleen Rusholme .

Biography


Stockwood's first album, 1995's Bonavista , was a slow seller until it was rereleased in 1996 with an extra track. That song, "Jerk", became Stockwood's breakthrough hit both in Canada and internationally. Her other early singles included "She's Not In Love", "You Won't Remember This" and "Enough Love".

In 1999, Stockwood released her second album, 12 Years Old . The title track from that album was a moderate hit. She also released "You and Me" and a new radio remix for "Still" was the album's third single.

Shaye


2002 saw Stockwood collaborate with close friends Tara MacLean and Damhnait Doyle to form the group Shaye , named after Tara Maclean's sister Shaye Martirano, who died as the result of injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident. Shaye's debut album The Bridge (Shaye album)|The Bridge (produced by Bill Bell and Jay Joyce ) was released in 2003 on EMI Canada. The album features songs by Ron Hynes , Sinιad Lohan and Crash Vegas . Support for the album included shows in Canada and Japan. " Happy Baby (Shaye single)|Happy Baby " the lead single, was nominated for Single of the Year at the 2004 Juno Awards . This was followed by " Beauty (Shaye single)|Beauty " in January 2005.

Their 2006 followup, Lake Of Fire (Shaye album)|Lake of Fire was released on EMI Canada. It was exclusively available on iTunes in November 2006, then released physically in February 2007. It was produced by Jay Joyce ( Patty Griffin , Tim Finn , Chantal Kreviazuk ) and features songs by Van Morrison , The Waterboys and Ron Sexsmith .

Current events


In 2006, Stockwood released a Christmas CD called I Love Santa (Kim Stockwood album)|I Love Santa .

In March 2011, Stockwood released her fourth studio album Back to the Water . It includes performances with fellow Shaye band member Damhnait Doyle , and Newfoundland and Labrador|Newfoundland bands The Once (band)|The Once and The Dardanelles (band)|The Dardanelles .

On 12 March 2011, CMT (Canada)|CMT will air Kim Stockwood's television special Back to the Water .
