Mums Da Disciple: A journey through life with his own soundtrack. The story of Mums begins in his 6th grad English class and his love of music. Having been given an assignment to “write whatever I wanted” Mums took inspiration from his new love of hip-hop culture and wrote a song. An MC was born.
The story continues at Pickering High School when Mums was in the 9th grade. He met a group of a likeminded teens and formed the Kings Court Crew. In a battle against a nemesis, the crew gave him the moniker Mr. Mumbles, because of his lisp tongue. Mums decided to embrace the name rather than hide from it and the name stuck. As high school passed some members of the King’s Court Crew fell away. At the age of 17 Mums had his most life changing and significant experience: He found God. His dedication was so strong that he decided to hang up the microphone to do the Lord’s work. He had not touched a mic or wrote a lyric for over a year, when he was led back to the hip-hop game to act as the Lord’s Disciple. Co-founding a provincial wide gospel music organization, he has been offered multiple opportunities to perform for city officials, high schools, and fans of all ages. As he stepped away from that organization, and his other group commitments, he realized that he was ready to go solo. He strives to create music with a higher purpose, which he likes to call “edutainment” . He has created Kings Court Entertainment to realize his vision of conscious hip-hop. Be on the look out for the Mums the Word mix tape series, as well as his features on the upcoming Kings Court Compilation Album, and the TDot United Project.
