Kelly Cecil began playing the guitar around the age of 15 shortly after hearing the Star Spangled Banner ,on a CD, performed at Woodstock, by Jimi Hendrix. He soon began to write songs on a $30 acoustic guitar that he had bought with his father at a local discount annex. By this time he was beginning to get into some of the popular music of that time such as Nirvana, Bush, Presidents of the United States of America, Green Day etc. He soon realized that most of the songs that he had written in the early period were simply new lyrics phrased over melodies he had heard in other songs. None of this was a concious decision, it was just the natural way he had gone about doing things. A few years later he formed a band that was later called Capstone. He played electric guitar in the band and wrote most of the music along with his friends and fellow schoolmates Rob Brown, Eric Doolin and Matt Coleman. This was a band with a down tuned version of heavy metal and Growling vocals. The subject matter dealt primarily with spiritual expression. This group eventually disbanded. A year or two later a new band was formed. This band was called Deeproot. Kelly was lead singer along with his friend and schoolmate Brian Clark. The format and style of this band was experimental. There were two "MCs" or lead singers, Brian aka vainz and Kelly aka kaZee. The drummer was Matt Coleman. Eric Doolin on Guitars and Devin Krtek on bass. The guitarist used a strange experimental tuning dropped down in the key of low C. The music was heavy, funky and fast at times. Vocally the load was shared equally between the two singers using primarily screaming, rapping etc. Conflicts within the band led to the end of this project after only a short time. Kelly then traveled and didn't write any new material for 3 or 4 years. Then, shortly before the invasion of Iraq in 2003, he began to write new songs under the band name Trisma. He was the sole creator which was a change from previous experiences and he felt like he was free to experiment musically, as there was no live audience, no fellow musicians etc. He released the first album by Trisma on March 3, 2003 titled 03-03-03. The songs on this album are a reflection of the time, with songs such as "Oil War" and "Green People Eater". Stylistically the music is a mix of metal, industrial, psychedelic and progressive rythyms. A second album was never completed, but over a dozen more songs were recorded. Two or three years later in early 2007 Kelly began to discover the blues and dove in full throttle. He has written a handful of blues, blues/rock and acoustic songs since then. Today he continues to develop his sound and create new art.
