About|the musical performer|the football player|Kyle Cook (American football)David Kyle Cook , born August 29, 1975' in Frankfort, Indiana , is a member of the band Matchbox Twenty . He plays Lead guitarist|lead guitar , banjo and sings Backing vocalist|backing vocals for the band. He attended the Atlanta Music Institute. He also lived in Oviedo, Florida for a time. His house was located between two family houses belonging to relatives of professional golfer Steve Lamontagne.
Kyle played the piano on the song "Hand Me Down" from the More Than You Think You Are record.
He is also the guitarist and co-lead vocalist for the band The New Left . The New Left consists of Kyle and three other musicians& mdash;John Kibler, Brett Borges and Eamon Ryland. Kyle, John and Brett played in a band called Downpour in high school. He has also contributed to Mick Jagger's song "Visions of Paradise" on his solo record Goddess in the Doorway . Kyle also played guitar on the song " ...Something to Be (song)|...Something to Be " by Rob Thomas (musician)|Rob Thomas on his solo album of the ...Something to Be|same name .
Most frequently on stage he is seen playing a 1979 Wine Red Gibson Les Paul or a Danny Gatton series Fender Telecaster.
Kyle is currently producing several artists in and around the Nashville area, and co-wrote the song "Time to Let Me Go" by Gloriana.
More recently while Matchbox Twenty was on a brief hiatus, he released songs solo via his MySpace page.
Kyle also co-wrote, performed and produced several songs on John Waite 's new album Rough & Tumble . He performed on stage with John Waite in February 2011 at the Boomtown Casino in New Orleans.
Personal life
Cook and his wife, Sabrina, whom he married in July 1999, have two children--both girls. He currently resides in Nashville, Tenn. He played classical violin for five years before learning to play the guitar . His first guitar was a Classical guitar|classical . He shares writing credits for all the songs on Exile on Mainstream , and "Feel" and "Soul." His mother's name is Jackie Snyder and she is a teacher in Frankfort, Indiana. He often credits her for much of his drive to succeed.
